Clarification on due date for Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the financial year ended 31 March 2020 has been extended till 31 December 2020 for all companies.

Though the MCA had allowed companies to conduct AGMs through audio-visual means, the prevailing pandemic crisis had made it a logistical nightmare for companies to finish the audit functions and finalise the annual reports.

A serious relief has been granted by MCA by way of granting an extension of three months for holding an annual general meeting and hence Companies with AGM due date as 30 September 2020 can conduct their AGM by 31 December 2020. The companies are not required to file an application for extension.
